If you are still looking for that perfect relaxing vacation then you've found what you're looking for - Look no further than the amazing island paradise of Caye Caulker in Belize, Central America.

Belize is roughly two hours from four major US airports - Miami, New Orleans, Houston and North Carolina. The moment you step off the plane, your vacation begins! Twenty-three fast, comfortable and reliable water taxis provide regular daily service between the Marine Terminal in Belize City to Caye Caulker, and San Pedro, Ambergris. You can also take advantage of the air service if you want to get to the island without delay.

The first "tourists" to the island were Spanish explorers, however Belize also used to be a British colony called British Honduras. You'll find that much of the culture on Belize derives from Spain, with Spanish language, Catholic and Mexican traditions. However, the official language of Belize is English, and most islanders speak and understand English well.

The island is very small, only five miles end-to end, and has a population of only 1500, however; your accommodations and service are nothing to worry about.  There are 57 hotels, resorts, and lodgings to choose from.  No high-rises here!  Most accommodations are family owned and run like guesthouses.  Whether a low-cost cottage on the beach or a luxurious apartment at a new two story condo, Cave Caulker Island wants its visitors to feel comfortable and at home.

There are plenty of activities to keep you and your family busy on Caye Caulker. Of course, there is fishing, diving, and snorkeling all around the island. Nevertheless, when you go to Caye Caulker, you must take a tour of the nearby Mayan ruins. Children will love the Manatee tours, which explore some of the most interesting sea life you'll find on the planet. If nature and trekking is more your thing, there are special bird watching and nature walking trails.

Caye Caulker has many different restaurants that cater to the tastes of all nationalities. However whatever food you like, you must taste the local fish! The food of Belize is so special because of the influence of several cultures. And I will tell you from personal experience, Caribbean lobster is better than anything that comes from Maine!

There is also something very special on Caye Caulker that you won't find anywhere else. Because it is a very small community, the people are completely devoted to the protection of the environment. Residents of the island are expected to help keep the island clean and tidy. So do not be taken aback if some one asks you to volunteer to spend a few minutes helping.

Caye Caulker is a beautiful island paradise that you will never forget.
